Good Example
Accessible Content
Ensuring that all website content is accessible is key to serving your community. Standards and regulations have recently changed and new federal guidelines will affect all school districts nationwide. Visit the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) website for information on accessibility fundamentals.
Images
Images should always contain valid 'alt' text. Our tools within Studio make it easy to add this text and it should describe what the supporting image shows. If an image contains important text/information, the 'alt' text must also contain this information.
Content
Content should be broken down into structured building blocks. Within our Content Editor tool, select your text and use the Paragraph drop-down to assign a Heading Level to your text. When using Heading Levels, be sure to assign them in order, starting with Heading Level 2 to Heading Level 6.
PDFs and Documents
All PDFs and documents require additional markup during creation to help users navigate through sections and identify important headings, languages, page numbers and media descriptions.
Videos and Audio
Video and audio media must be accessible to both blind and deaf users. This means that videos need a transcript, closed captioning or sign language interpreter, while audio files need a transcript or closed captioning.
